I can't help but step back from certain moments and think, "This is one of the ones I'm going to pull out to amaze some young comedy nerd in 15 years." And Sam Morril's album release party at The Village Underground was one of those.
Do yourself a favor and check these guys out while you still can on the cheap!
Adam Newman is great. And I don't just say that because we both hail from the great state of New Hampshire. He's funny and sort of nerdy charming and wears lots of great sweaters during the winter.
Sometimes you're watching someone onstage for the first time and you wonder "Why is this guy not getting all the hype?" and that's how I feel about Anthony DeVito every time I see him
While it would be putting it mildly to describe his persona as "disgruntled" he's actually a charming and delightful fellow offstage and that warmth tends to shine through and take the bitter edge off
It is a sad commentary on the business of comedy that I had never heard of Jessica Kirson before I moved to New York. Fortunately Patrick Milligan booked her on Stand Up on The Spot and I was blown away.
To call her a murderer or a crusher or a killer does not even begin to describe it. A sheer force of nature is the closest I can think of. I will drop everything and run into the room to watch her set any day of the week.
I don't even know how to use words to begin to describe her act and I think any that I did come up with would be doing you (and her) a disservice. All I can say is if you have the opportunity go see her, go. now. immediately. go.
