I always joke that I got into this because my Puritan New England Work Ethic won't let me just enjoy something, I had to turn it into a job. But it's also true that this job lets me enjoy comedy even more!! Like when I get to interview some of the funniest, greatest comedians (and people) around.
Steve Rannazzisi has been one of my favorite comedians (and people) ever since he made me actually laugh at a joke about his kid and then bought everyone drinks at the La Jolla Comedy Store to celebrate the Season 2 pickup of The League. Because he's such a fun guy (and fun stoner), we didn't talk about his upcoming special or how he got into comedy or anything like that, we talked about The Worst Places To Get Stoned.
Joe List is another guy who just immediately floored me with his incredible jokes and what a seriously nice guy he is. So we sat down to talk about anger and entitlement and drinking and sobriety ahead of his Comedy Central Half Hour taping.
Oh Sam Morril, I loved him before I even met him thanks to some dumb outrage journalism that put him on my radar a couple years back. And once I had the chance to see him live here in NYC, I felt more than justified in that love because he's an amazing joke writer and just a blast to be around. We talked about his upcoming album and making funny the priority above all else.
