As a responsible member of the comedy community, and both a member of a minority group (women) and a majority group (crackers), I feel it is my duty to Call Out those abuse the massive cultural, political and economic power one is instantaneously awarded when they first grab a microphone and tell some dick jokes.
Please do not attend these performers shows and support their brands of bigotry, hatred and bullying. If at all possible, find their Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram, home phone, any venue that has booked them in the past or may do so in the future, their current girlfriend, their ex girlfriends, anyone who as ever been booked on the same show as them, anyone who has been tagged together with them in a photo on Facebook, and their high school biology teacher and be sure to express your displeasure loudly, and repeatedly. It's the only way to get through to these power mad opinion mongers.
1. Pete Lee
The title alone is offense, as he is obviously painting a wide swathe of Americans with outdated stereotype based solely on their geographic location! To make it worse, he compares himself to Jesus, which is both blasphemous to Christians and deeply disrespectful of Atheists, Buddhists, Hindus, Zoroastrians, and Pastafarianists.
2. Fahim Anwar
Fahim obviously thinks his Afghani heritage gives him license to use offensive accents and characterizations of working class immigrants, struggling to make a better life for themselves and their families in America. This sort of self-loathing, smug attitude that one should be able to make fun of their own ethnic or cultural group is particularly infuriating.
3. Beth Stelling
In the first minute alone, Beth manages to malign the entire state of Ohio and traditional family and marriage. She spends the rest of the time shamelessly exploiting her mother's advancing age to trounce on the elderly. The elderly! Our most helpless of populations (besides the homeless, veterans, the 1%, cat callers and middle aged white women who drink too much white wine)
4. Monroe Martin
Apparently Monroe thinks his tearjerking upbringing in foster care gives him the privilege to take advantage of the disabled while simultaneously engaging in outdated patriarchal nonsense by purposefully not engaging it.
5. Sabrina Jalees
You would think a Muslim lesbian from Canada would have the finely tuned cultural sensitivity of the Princess and the Pea (which is not to imply that any racial, ethnic, geographic or demographic group should be thought of as a mattress one would lay on top of, implying dominance and ownership), yet she drops an allusion to a nightclub bouncer that is sure to cause mental anguish to the many hundreds of thousands of people who have ever been denied access and forced to wait outside all night while they watched wealthier, prettier and more famous people breeze right in to the "full" room. Tsk, tsk, tsk. I expected more from you, Sabrina.
