Sexism in comedy is systemic, not personal. Or rather, it's both, but the solution can only come from systemic change. Calling out every dude who tells a misogynistic rape joke won't help anyone (except Jezebel's ad revenue), calling out bookers and agents and network execs who dismiss women will. Even better is to see the system waking up, looking around and changing itself.
That's why this week's announcements that BBC will no longer tolerate sausage fest quiz show panels and Will Ferrell is spinning off a female-driven production venture are great news.
