Everything always evens out. After a week of wonderful, amazing audiences, Saturday night served up two of the most perplexing crowds I've ever seen.
The first was at Chris Neff's CD Release party at Sal's. The crowd was chatty, never cohesive and completely unpredictable There was a heckler who first piped up to let Jerry Rocha know that he'd spent more than enough time making fun of the KKK. There was a barrel chested (and gutted) Jewish gentleman who tried to start a physical fight with Dustin Torres after he dropped an N-bomb. And the rest of the crowd just had strange pockets of people who would get offended at stuff that was completely innocuous, then cheer on racism and salad tossing.
I finished up the night at The Comedy Store where there was a young lady in the front row who first appeared to be the "I'm drunk, look at me!!!" kind of heckler, but turned out to be the "I'm drunk, where am I? Where's my mom? Who are you? How do you stand up?" kind of heckler. Plus there were two burly dudes who seemed to think they were Statler & Waldorf and one guy who kept yelling for Brady Matthews to take off his pants.
