Last night was the 10th anniversary of Crack 'Em Up Thursday, a weekly urban show in The Belly Room at The Comedy Store. I actually thought it had been around longer, as it's one of the four (now only three since Trippin On Tuesdays ended) "Mitzi-approved" shows - the outside produced shows that Mitzi blessed before the onslaught of terrible bringer shows at The Store.
Anyway, I love Crack 'Em Up, and not just because I've nicknamed it "Attractive Black Guy Night." Nichelle Murdock & Uncle Levi put on a consistently good show, bring in a decent to awesome crowd each week, and it's a fun challenge for the young comedians who get assigned development spots on it by The Store. It's also my favorite show to watch Chappelle drop in on and they always have treats back in the green room.
Last night was just a super changed super fun version of the usual, with folks from "the old days" dropping in, extra cake and eventually devolving into a giant freestyle rap party.
